I saw these cute snowman on Pinterest (I have them pinned if you are interested) and thought I’d give them a try with the kids. Admittedly, these were definitely too hard for Monkey Girl (2) and Momma had to do a lot of helping but Prince Charming (5) and Mr. Hockey (10) had a fun time with them.
The materials for this craft are pretty simple – A toilet paper roll for each child, construction paper of various colours, scissors, glue and a pen or marker.
I precut the pieces before we started – asking each kiddo what colours they wanted the hat and scarf to be made out of.
Step 2: Glue a thin piece of coloured construction paper midway around the toilet paper roll.
Step 3: Glue a thick pice of coloured construction paper around the top of the tube, starting at about 1cm from the top so that it sticks well. Bunch the paper together and add two teardrop shaped pieces to keep the bunched paper together. You could use a staple for this, but we simple used a lot of glue and it worked well – giving a cute little pompom at the top of the hats.
Step 4: Embellish with the pen, more cut pieces of construction paper or whatever else you would like to use. We used a pen to draw a smile and the eyes, leftover circles from a hole puncher as buttons, orange cardstock for the carrot nose and construction paper for the ends of the scarf.
