I haven’t done an update in a while so I figured I would give a quick one. We really haven’t done too much the first few weeks of January. We’re having a “Don’t Spend Extra Money” month. We spent a lot on Christmas and also have a bunch of gift cards so figured we would give it a go.
On New Years Eve, we watched movies, ate treats and gave ourselves beards out of fake Christmas snow. Mr. Hockey was in New Brunswick with my friend Leah so didn’t join our festivities but we had a houseguest – another foster child who’s foster parents were out of town – for the weekend.
We have had a bunch of random fun – playing together, going to Birthday Dinners and making look-alike balloons for the birthday boy (er Grandpa), making scary faces out of orange peels and using all those nice new toys.
We had an icestorm that cancelled busses so the kids had a fun time exploring all our drooping trees. It really was pretty neat to see all our trees bending towards the ground and ice covering everything in sight.
Later on that evening, our power went out for about 5 hours. We had fun with glow sticks in the bathtub (Electric Lady is wearing a bathing suit BTW) and a romantic, candlelight dinner or peanut butter and jam sandwiches. We go all out when the power goes out!
And there you have it, the first 3 weeks of January at our house.
