How to make a Toucan? Felt, paint and feathers of course!

Monkey Girl and I are having fun with the rainforest this week so I thought we’d make a toucan as our craft this week. This one needed more momma help than usual, but we both had fun making it!

Step one: Cut out the pieces. I cut the wings out separately then free-cut the shape of a toucan. I am pretty good at just cutting things out but if you’d like a template, i imagine you could hunt one down somewhere.

Step Two: Paint the various pieces of the bird. Waring – It will take a lot of paint as the felt soaks it right up. Monkey girl loved the experience of painting on a different texture though!

Step 3: Glue feathers on the wings and tail.

Step 4: Glue the wings on the bird, as well as the eye and admire your finished creation!

That Toucan is soooo cute! I’ve never thought of painting felt before. What a great idea!
